About Us

Pack 772 was chartered in 1990 to Discovery United Methodist Church in Western Henrico County.  Although primarily drawing from Gayton Elementary, we are happy to have several schools represented by the Pack, as well as several home-schooled children. We welcome one and all! We average 50 boys in a given year.

Our monthly pack meeting will be held the fourth Monday of the month (this is a change from last year), and the dens meet about every other week on different nights, depending on the den.

The boys have some favorite activities that they look forward to every year, such as the Rain Gutter Regatta boat race and the Pine Wood Derby car race.   The boys have a great time, all the while learning sportsmanship and pride in their own workmanship! And the dads have fun too!

Ask a boy what his favorite part about Cub Scouting is and he will probably say ,"CAMPING!"  We camp once in the Fall and the Spring and then attend District Day Camp at Deep Run Park in June, and the Council Camp in July . There are always additional events listed on our calendar that scout families can attend on their own.  Merchants frequently offer special behind the scenes opportunities to scouts.

Part of the Cub Scout Promise is "to help other people " and service to others is an integral part of the scouting values.   The boys have several chances  to do this. They participate in the annual Central Va. Food Bank Drive and they have the chance to "help" (aka watch) the big Boy Scouts at the collection point to load the bags onto the tractor trailer collection trucks. They also collect toys for annual Marines Toys for Tots campaign and undergo a 'rigorous' uniform inspection by the sharp Marines! They also perform service projects for Gayton and the church, and others as they arise at the different cub camps in the area. They are taught to practice the "Leave No Trace" principle of Leaving it Better Than They Found It! That takes a little practice for elementary kids!
